Pre-event sales begin at selected outlets, including Changi's T2
Singapore, 28 August 2008 - If you have been looking forward to getting your hands on the official 2008 FORMULA 1™ SingTel Singapore Grand Prix merchandise, the wait is over. An exciting range of merchandise ranging from caps and T-shirts to cuddly bears and commemorative mugs, will be on sale at the following outlets (see Annex 1) with immediate effect. Just to whet your appetite, we are releasing 7 men’s t-shirts, 5 women’s t-shirts, and one (1) children’s t-shirt during the pre-event sales that start today.
As the name implies, pre-event is only half of the story. If you are attending the race from 26 September onwards, you will find another 7, 9 and 1 t-shirt designs for men, women and children, respectively, for sale exclusively at the Circuit Park.
This will bring the total range of t-shirt designs to 14 for men, 14 for women, and 2 for children, and serves as an exclusive bonus for those coming for the race.
Also available for sale right now, and all the way to the race weekend, are items such as beach towels, can holders, foldable binoculars, a host of bags (gym bag, messenger bag, shoulder bag), luggage tags, mugs, pens, teddy bears, water bottles, caps, and Zippo lighters (see Annex 2 for prices).
"These items are produced after much thought by the designers so that spectators and race fans alike can bring home a very meaningful souvenir, long after the chequered flag has been waved," said Mr Teo Hock Seng, chairman of Singapore GP Pte Ltd.
"We hope that fans will wear them everywhere they go even before the race weekend arrives, so that we can all generate a greater sense of buzz and excitement over this historical race," added Mr Teo.
About 2008 FORMULA 1™ SingTel Singapore Grand Prix
The inaugural 2008 FORMULA 1™ SingTel Singapore Grand Prix took place on 28 September 2008 on a street circuit of public roads around the Marina Bay area. The race was the first Formula One™ to be held at night, and the first Formula One™ street race in Asia. Over 100,000 spectators, a sell-out, capacity crowd, watched the Singapore Grand Prix trackside. Over 30 million TV viewers in the five main European markets of France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK, are estimated to have watched the live coverage of the race.
